Mini Book Review: Software Testing An ISEB Foundation by Brian Hambling (editor)
I titled this as "mini book review" because I do not have much to say. This book has one aim - to help you pass the ISEB Foundation exam. I think the book achieves this aim. So if you want an easy preparatory route to sitting and passing the ISEB foundation exam then reading this book and filling your head with its words and definitions should lead to a pass.
Sadly, I do not consider that as a glowing book reference.

But then, in some respects, I should not even review this book. I do not fit into the target-audience class of this book, and if I stray beyond the notion of "does this book help the reader pass the ISEB foundation exam" then I move into instant ISEB or book critic mode and that would serve no-one well.
I borrowed this book from the library to see if I could recommend it as a book on its own merits. I can only recommend this book as a means to an end. I do however recommend - that if you choose to read it - then you too borrow it from the library.
Good points:
- Small book
- Sample questions and mini exercises
- Study hints
- Should achieve its stated aim of helping you pass the exam
I think the marketing behind the book suggests that this would form a useful set of knowledge to send you on your way to a glowing testing career but please don't use it for that. If you choose to read it, then read it only to pass the foundation exam. Then read as many other books as you can, as quickly as you can, to expose your brain to more expansive and personal treatments of Software Testing.
Book chapters contributed by Peter Morgan, Angelina Samaroo, Geoff Thompson, Peter Williams.
